MTEC, MVA thank MY WAVE Club advisors

The Marianas Tourism Education Council (and Marianas Visitors Authority held an appreciation dinner last June 30 to thank advisors of school MY WAVE (Marianas Youth Welcome All Visitors Enthusiastically) Clubs.

The dinner, held at Kanoa Resort, was the third such occasion hosted by MTEC at the end of the school year.

“‘Tourism Is Everybody’s Business,’” said MTEC chairwoman Vicky Benavente.

“When we teach our kids about the importance of tourism, we help them understand their role and how they can contribute to the success of our islands. Throughout the year, the MY WAVE Club advisors strive to motivate the students with activities such as field trips, beach cleanups, and volunteering for the MVA events. We also appreciate the businesses who contributed to the MY WAVE Club advisors gathering, making it a fun and enjoyable evening for all.”

A number of businesses contributed raffle prizes for the event, including: Aqua Resort Club, T Galleria by DFS, Grandvrio Resort, Hyatt Regency Saipan, I Love Saipan, Kanoa Resort, Laolao Bay Golf & Resort, Mariana Resort & Spa, MARPAC, Megabyte, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, and Saipan Computer Services.

The MTEC Board of Directors is comprised of tourism and education representatives, including MVA Managing Director Christopher A. Concepcion and Community Projects

manager Martin Duenas; Naomi Nishimura and Jonas Barcinas from the CNMI Public School System; James Nelson of Sorensen Pacific Broadcasting; Gordon Marciano of PDI; Shamika Ratwatte of Ernst & Young; Larry Lee; and newly elected director Wendi Herring of Kanoa Resort.
