Chargualaf asks Vietnam War vets to join LibDay parade
Mac Chargualaf is asking all Vietnam War Veterans to contact him if ever they plan to participate and join other veterans in the Liberation Day parade set on July 4.
Chargualaf said he wants to know the shirt sizes of the war veterans who would join the parade, which is expected to start at Quartermaster Road.
A separate tent will be reserved for Vietnam War veterans who will join the Liberation Day parade. Organizers are planning to set up the tent across the grandstand.
A brief but formal ceremony would also be help where Vietnam War veterans would be given pins to commemorate the years of service they gave in the U.S. Armed Forces. The ceremony would just be short and done in a dignified manner.
Vietnam War veterans are those who served, have been deployed, and worked in a military base or in the office from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.
The U.S. Department of Defense has also recognized Saipan as one of its partners for the Vietnam War commemoration.
Aside from Chargualaf, former Senate president Pete Reyes and Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang are Vietnam War veterans. There are also about 30 more here in the CNMI.
