As part of their continuing efforts to help the CNMI recover from the destruction of Typhoon Soudelor that devastated Saipan with super typhoon winds last August, IT&E has been involved in numerous recovery efforts throughout the island.
One of these efforts is the recent donation of two cellular units and accompanying wireless service to the Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts. The organization is a longterm recovery group that identifies, facilitates and delivers resources and long-term support to address the unmet needs of individuals and families impacted by disaster.
“We are extremely grateful for the work that the team at CARE has been conducting to help residents recover from Typhoon Soudelor and other disasters,” said John M. Compton, IT&E chief operating officer. “The cellular phones and service that we recently contributed will help the organization continue their important work. We are a proud supporter of CARE.”
Organizational members of CARE include Karidat, Ayuda Foundation, Rotary Club, United for Saipan, various government and nonprofit organizations, and many more. In addition to helping to coordinate recovery work, the organization also maintains a volunteer database for those who want to help out in times or disaster or recovery.
“We are continually impressed with the passion and dedication that the volunteers of CARE and other agencies demonstrate in times of need, and we want to assist in every way we can to help them,” added Compton. (PR)
