Northern Marianas College and College Access Challenge Grant program will be hosting a free “Cash for College” workshop that is aimed at assisting students and their parents in maximizing scholarship opportunities that are available to students seeking to obtain a college education.

The free workshop will be held tomorrow, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the NMC campus, Building A in As Terlaje. The workshop will be an ongoing session, so participants can stop by anytime between 9am and 3pm.

Participants will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on forms for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Saipan Higher Education Financial Aid (SHEFA), and the CNMI Scholarship.

Staff members from the College’s Office of Admissions and Records will also be present to provide information and assistance with the NMC application process.

In addition, those who participate in the workshop will qualify to have their NMC application fee and placement test fees waived for the upcoming Fall 2016 semester. This waiver represents a savings of up to $75.

Although not required, it is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid passport, birth certificate, or green card), three official transcripts, signed 2014 1040 tax form (2014 W-2 statements if you and/or your parents did not or will not file taxes), and/or proof of CNMI residency for 2014 and 2015 (e.g., CNMI 1040 tax form, employment verification from your employer, official transcripts, voters certification, etc.)

The free “Cash for College” workshop is made possible by the financial support of the U.S. Department of Education’s College Access Challenge Grant program. This federal program aims to increase the number of students from underrepresented minority populations enrolled in college.
