Ayuyu Battalion hosts JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge

The 8th Brigade KHS Ayuyu Battalion hosted this year’s JROTC Summer Camp that was held at Saipan Southern High School campus from June 8 to 11, 2016.

All five high schools in the CNMI—Marianas High School, Saipan Southern High School, Rota High School, Tinian High School, and Kagman High School—gathered for this adventure with a total of 125 cadets and 17 adults total.

The training was leadership geared to give the cadets experience in life skills to apply in their adult life for success.

The cadets were trained on cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), land navigation orienteering, hasty repelling on a 30-degree slope, rope bridge, and a leadership reaction course where they are trained to handle life situations, difficult tasks, and work as a team.

The cadets also were trained in water survival at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool where they learned drown proofing and poncho raft construction. The cadets were trained on how to survive in the water with the equipment they have on. The cadets also participated in sports competitions, volleyball and basketball, in which MHS dominated volleyball and SSHS dominated basketball.

A well deserved congratulation goes out for the planning and execution of this camp that took a lot of hard work and months of preparation from the Army instructors, Public School System central office, multiple school unit headquarters (MSU), and cadet command in FT. Lewis Washington. With great teamwork and success, it is the young cadets who will benefit from this training and experience at this year’s JROTC cadet leadership challenge (JCLC) 2016. (PR)
