BSI, DPS rehabilitate Gualo Rai Youth Center

The Gualo Rai Youth Center looks almost the same today as it was when it was first built in March 2003—thanks to the generosity of Best Sunshine International, Ltd.’s Corporate Social Responsibility, whose continued community work has given a new and fresh look to public infrastructures and facilities in the Commonwealth.

The Gualo Rai Youth Center has been the venue for community activities, programs, and events.

It was BSI CSR executive director Rita Chong who reached out to Special Assistant for Youth Affairs Shelane Borja for the project and the massive rehabilitation work began last weekend.

“It was during the Koblerville Village Pride Project when we established our partnership,” Chong said. “After our CSR team aided with the rehabilitation of the Koblerville Youth Center, we asked the Youth Affairs Office if they needed further assistance with any other youth centers. Shelane (Borja) had mentioned that their Gualo Rai facility needed some work done so here we are today in collaboration with the DPS cadets providing our help.”

BSI CSR team jointly collaborated with the Department of Public Safety, which assisted them with the exterior painting of the building.

But Chong says the work doesn’t stop there.

“We’ve accomplished our goal today by completing the exterior painting of the building. Our next project is to help with the tiling of the center,” Chong stated. “It’s our pleasure to provide this assistance, especially at this time because summer is here and we want the kids in this area to utilize this facility.”

Youth Affairs special assistant Shelane Borja is grateful for the assistance that BSI and DPS have provided, especially because the Gualo Rai Youth Center has never been revamped since it was built.

“We are glad that the BSI corporate social responsibility team and the DPS cadets came in today to refurbish our building. The exterior paint has been the same since the building was built in March of 2003.

“It definitely looks a lot better now,” Borja said. “My team and I would like to thank BSI and DPS for the help that they’ve provided. We’re extremely fortunate to establish this partnership with both BSI and DPS. With this, we provide our kids with a center that’s safe and beautiful. Again, thank you guys so much for all the help.” (PR)
