New entertainment experience at LibDay festival

The 71st Liberation Day Festivities is expecting a wide array of entertainment as local and international acts fill up the month-long festival. Included in this year’s entertainment lineup are; a 70-man marching band from Korea organized by the (Saipan Korean Association), a Japanese domatsuri dancers from Japan (organized by the Japanese association of Saipan), cultural performances by various local groups, and more.
Over the past months, Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang, and his staff; Skywalker Communications Group president Dr. Bo Hu; the Liberation Day Committee and respected chairpersons; the 2016 Liberation Day Chairman; Christopher De Leon Guerrero; and members of the community, with expertise by Gordon, have sought acts that would highlight the CNMI’s cultural melting pot. With invitations from the mayor and Skywalker Communications Groups’ international network and resources, the 2016 Liberation Day Festivities entertainment experience just got better.
To further enhance the entertainment feel, look, and sound for the festivities, Bo invited Wang Pei Yu, a well respected stage engineer and director who has for many years travelled al over China, as well as abroad to coordinate premiere events and concerts. Yu brought with him his team of professional lighting engineers, sound engineers, and production director to properly effectively give the CNMI a memorable and festive experience.
“It’s a colorful lightshow every night at the festival grounds,” says Wang.
Additional to the experience are two large elevated LED screens at the front of the stage. According to Bo, one of last year’s challenges was seeing the performances, as audiences tend to stand at the very edge of the stage to watch. Bo further states “the main function of the LED screens is to allow families sitting under the tents enjoying a meal together a chance to watch the spectacular performances, yet maintain a festive and concert-like aesthetic.”
