In the end, “Angelika Garcia” gave the best answer that the judges wanted and was crowned the Super Sea Reyna Queen of the Pacific transgender pageant held Saturday night at Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Hall.

Angelika Garcia was among the five finalists chosen from the 13 candidates that vied for the crown. “Maxim Ilustre,” “Pia Wurtzbach,” “Chris Manuel,” and “Bangs Garcia” joined her in the final five.

The five finalists were asked the same question—agreed on by judges Helene Lizama Manning, Leslie B. Camacho, Marianas Variety editor Zaldy Dandan, reigning Miss Marianas Jian Joyner, and former Saipan Tribune reporter Jayson Camacho.

The final question is how would you describe nature to a blind child.

“It is the same like the love of a mother, it is undefinable. You can’t describe it but only feel it,” said Angelika Garcia that drew wild cheers from the packed crowd at the Royal Taga Hall.

Bangs Garcia, Manuel, Wurtzbach, and Illustre were the first to fourth runners-up, respectively.

Bangs Garcia had some sort of consolation after claiming three of the six special awards. She won the best in evening gown and swimsuit awards, and was Miss Photogenic.

Wurtzbach earned the best in nature costume while “A.J. Lee” was named Miss Charity for helping the organizers and having the most funds raised. “Serena Temple” was given the Spirit Award.

The pageant was held to create environmental awareness with the candidates taking the stage wearing their costumes made up of recycled materials.

In the pre-final event, the candidates were asked to choose a photo and describe why it was their particular choice. Most of their answers centered in helping preserve the environment for future generations.

The pageant was a fundraising event where proceeds would go the Commonwealth Health Center Volunteers. Pageant coordinator Ernie Molina said the money could be used to buy additional wheelchairs or other equipment needed.

The candidates also gave free haircut and makeover to man’amkos last month and helped with a beach cleanup and beautification of the surrounding area of Filcom Pavilion in Susupe as part of their community service.
