Last Friday, the 2016 Royal Court candidates were officially introduced to the community at the opening ceremony of Liberation Day Festivities.

Shortly after the ribbon cutting ceremony, the 2016 candidates were to led to the stage by the beautiful 2015 Liberation Queen and the Princesses. Dressed in beautiful outfits that resonated the CNMI’s vibrant culture, the candidates deservedly represented the true beauty of the CNMI.

Shortly after the departing speech from last year’s Queen, the 2016 Royal Court candidates started introducing themselves on stage. Their beauty, along with the beautiful lighting of the stage, captured the eyes of the audience who were cheering every candidate as if they were one of their own.

According to a young audience, the outfits were so beautiful and so stylish that she wishes she owns the set herself. The pageant routine was choreographed by the CNMI’s renowned pageant director and choreographer, Ernie Molina. Skywalker Communications Group has been providing professional pageant training to the candidates which brought out the best in them on the opening ceremony.

After the formal introduction, the candidates gave an eye catching opening performance supervised by Rose Hacog, Skywalker’s very own public relation manager and one of the past Royal Court Queens as well.

This year, a total of 26 candidates are competing for the crown, another record-breaking achievement by Skywalker Communications Group and the Saipan Mayor’s Office. The candidates come from diverse ethnic backgrounds ranging from Chamorro, Carolinians, to Filipinos. “It was beautiful and I think the candidates represented their heritage well. I am hoping the candidates will be able to represent their cultures even better in the following events. It was a great show,” said Tonett Teigita, mother of 2016 Royal Court candidate Mercilia Teigita.

In response, a member of the Liberation Day Organization committee said, “this is the first of many performances by the candidates. In the future, we will emphasize more on the rich heritage.”

Rose Masayos, mother of candidate Nikela Masayos was ecstatic with the opening day performance, “It was amazing,” she said. “I give all the candidate five stars and two thumbs up, it was a joy to watch.”
