Bears players lead SBL batting, pitching races

With the Chalan Kanoa bears unbeaten in the 2016 Saipan Baseball League, it is no longer surprising that their players are also ahead in the batting and pitching races.
As of June 8, the Bears A.J. Lizama is on top of the batting charts with his .490 average, built around his 24-for-49 performance at bat. Four other players have at least .400 batting average to make it to the Top 5. The list includes the Yankees’ Franco Nakamura (20-for-43/.465), the BSI Aces’ Ben Jones Jr. (16-for-36/.444), the Brewers’ Nokki Saralu (22-for-55/ .423), and the BSI Aces’ John Tudela (17-for-22/ .405).
The Brewers’ Pat Alepuyo (.396), North Starz’s Roke Tenorio (.396), Brewers’ Anthony Tenorio (.393), Bears’ Henry Lizama (.366), North Starz’s John Quitugua (.364), Yankees’ Gary Cruz (.361), Aces’ Lamarc Iguel (.360), Falcons’ Giovanni Mira (.351), Yankees’ Peter Tomokane (.349), and the Aces’ Darion Kones (.343) rounded out the Top 15 batters leaders, which were based on 30 or more times at bat.
In the pitching race, the Bears’ Jeffrey Lizama enjoys the top view with his 0.95 ERA. He pitched 28.1 innings and allowed only three runs. Jeffrey’s teammate and the batting leader A.J. Lizama also gave up three runs in 21.1 innings pitch for a second-best 1.27 ERA. The Aces’ Michael Muna is ranked third with his 1.32 ERA. He has pitched the most innings so far at 47.2 and allowed only seven runs.
The BSI Aces pitcher also leads in strikeouts with 64, while the Falcons’ Frankie Lieto and the Brewers’ Vince Cepeda are tied for second with 37 apiece. The Yankees’ Peter Lieto is at third place with his 36 strikes, followed by the Bears’ Jose Lizama Jr. (33) and the Brewers’ Verlance Secharmidal (26).
In other statistics, the Aces’ Juan Iguel joins A.J. Lizama, and Peyton Lizama in a three-way tie for the runs lead, as the trio has 20 each. There is also a deadlock for the most triples with the Aces’ Lamarc Iguel and Saralu getting four each.
Saralu is also on top of the doubles category with his 6, just up by one against Lizama Jr. (3), Tomokane, Alepuyo, and A.J. Lizama have four apiece. In the home run division, only two players have so far rounded the bases with Lamarc Iguel and Saruli posting one home run apiece. In the RBIs category, A.J. Lizama’s 19 lead Saralu and Tudela’s 17 and 15, respectively.
