To help with next year’s relocation of Sister Remedios Early Childhood Development Center (to the Mount Carmel School campus, the SRECDC Parent-Teacher Association recently held a raffle to raise funds to help expand playground facilities at MCS.
The funds will be used to help relocate some playground equipment currently at SRECDC, but also to buy new equipment to supplement the playground started by MCS’s 1993 and 1994 AlumKnights over the past few years. The SRECDC PTA raised over $6,000 for the effort, which they presented to MCS officials this past week.
According to SRECDC PTA president, Vina Ayuyu, “In our discussions about transitioning Sr. Remedios to Mount Carmel, one of our concerns was the lack of playground facilities. So we decided that the proceeds from our annual big fundraiser would go towards the costs of providing that playground for our students that will be coming here.”
SRECDC principal Bennet Seman, added, “We are excited about this new relationship between Mount Carmel and Sr. Remedios, and this donation shows our commitment to working together.”
MCS president Galvin Deleon Guerrero was very happy with the donation. He said, “Physical activity is so very important for students’ growth and learning, so we really appreciate this help, as well as that of our 1993 and 1994 AlumKnights, to provide our students with a safe and fun place to play.”
