Delta Air Lines celebrates 27 years of service from Japan to Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, this month.
The anniversary was marked with special activities before Delta’s flight to Saipan on June 1, 2016, from Narita International Airport. At the check-in counter, Saipan-da greeted and took photos with passengers. Following an announcement by the flight captain about the anniversary, Saipan-da also distributed Delta coloring books and crayons to all passengers.
“The Marianas Visitors Authority expresses our sincere appreciation to Delta Air Lines for their continued commitment to Saipan for nearly three decades now,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “Delta is very much our lifeline for maintaining the Japan market for the Northern Marianas, and the importance of our partnership cannot be overstated. We congratulate Delta on their 27th anniversary of service to Saipan, and the MVA will continue to actively work with Delta to continue this service.”
Following a December 2016 meeting between Delta, the CNMI Office of the Governor, MVA, the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Japan Saipan Travel Association, a series of FAM tours have been jointly sponsored to bring more tour planners and travel agents to experience the allure of the Northern Marianas firsthand, in order to better package and sell the destination. The MVA board has also recently approved an airline incentive package to support Delta and other airlines bringing in new flights to the Northern Marianas from Japan in line with the MVA’s market diversification strategy.
Delta currently operates a B752 aircraft with 169 seats to Saipan daily. (PR)
