The Saipan Mayor’s Office, the Liberation Day committee, non-profit Liberation Day Foundation, and Skywalker Communications Group have put the finishing touches to ensure a smooth and entertaining opening day of the 71st Liberation Day festivities tonight at the Garapan Fishing Base.

The tents were put up last week, while the stage crew worked day and night to finish setting up and decorating the stage, which is equipped with state of the art sound systems and LED screens.

Performers of the nightly Liberation Day festivities are expected to be motivated in giving their best to entertain the community and tourists that will troop to the Fishing Base.

The 2016 CNMI Liberation Day candidates, meanwhile, decided to amp up the festival atmosphere at the Fishing Base by selling raffle tickets on site.

More than 65 volunteers also signed up to be part of the festivities where they will be assisting the organizers in various capacities.

This year Skywalker Communications Group designed the volunteer program to specifically focus on the development of all individuals who signed up to widen and improve their career prospects.

Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang expressed his enthusiasm and extended his appreciation to all the volunteers for their willingness to contribute to the community.

Volunteers will be assigned to learn various skills in photography, entertainment, event management, videography, creative writing, web community management, stage light and sound engineering, and more.

Volunteers will also develop their communication skills, which would enhance their career prospects.

Needless to say, the 2016 Liberation Day Festivities is destined to be the biggest and most colorful ceremony the CNMI has ever witnessed. (PR)
