“Congressman Kilili Sablan called me and told me the good news,” he added.

When asked how he felt upon receiving the news, Zhi said: “I am truly thankful for those who helped me this far. Give the highest credit to the love and support from my family, school, teachers, my classmates, and friends.”

In his high school career, Zhi remained active in speech and debate, math, and sports competitions. He also spent many hours volunteering at the American Memorial Park and Chinese Association of Saipan.

He added, “Our school’s caring rules and extracurricular activities mold our students character both physically and mentally, which created versatility in students.”

In preparation for the rigorous coursework at West Point, Zhi explained that he will train for his basic training in June, review for academic placement tests, and contact alumni to learn more.

Zhi noted, “I feel great to serve the others; to give is better than to receive. I want to learn in college without considering the financial difficulties.”
