Some Thursday Market vendors move to PDM

A number of Thursday Night Street Market vendors relocated to the Paseo de Marianas with personnel from the Saipan Mayor’s Office preparing the Garapan Fishing Base for the June 10 opening of the 2016 Liberation Day carnival.

SMO special assistant Henry Hofschneider said they received word that some of the vendors, which moved to PDM, just wanted to continue.

“We learned that they just wanted to continue with the Thursday Market as the Fishing Base will not be available for more than a month to give way to the Liberation Day festivities. They wanted to continue to earn that’s why they relocated to PDM,” said Hofschneider.

At first the Liberation Day committee was thinking of accommodating the Thursday Night Street Market vendors with some also having booths for the festival. But chose to drop the plan since the Thursday Market stops its operations during the Fourth of July celebration.

“But we invited some of the vendors. We offered for them to come in and apply as concessionaires. Some will be joining us in the Liberation carnival, while others decided to take a break,” said Hofschneider.
