Mount Carmel School recently announced that it had hired a new vice principal, Helene Lizama Manning, who comes on board just in time to prepare for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year.

Manning comes to the school with 12 years of educational experience spanning from 9th to 12th grade and Pre-K. Her expertise covers a wide range of skills and areas, including curriculum development, literacy development, expository reading and writing, college readiness, the co-teaching model, teaching for English language learners, 21st Century skills, Montessori methods, and enrichment opportunities for early childhood. Manning earned her Bachelors of Science degree from Texas Woman’s University and will be obtaining her M.Ed. from Loyola University Maryland this summer.

School officials are very excited about Manning’s entry into the school. “Not only does she bring a wealth of experience, but she is truly passionate about education and helping students succeed,” said school president Galvin Deleon Guerrero.

He added, “She will definitely help us in our continuing efforts to improve curriculum, instruction, and assessment.”

Manning is also excited about the opportunity to work at Mount Carmel School. As she put it, “I am truly proud to accept this new role and look forward to working with Mr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero, Mrs. Frances Taimanao, as well as the rest of the leadership team and staff, in our efforts and passion to do whatever it takes to provide enriching experiences and advance the achievement of all our students.”

Manning is the daughter of Richard and Rebecca Lizama. She is happily married to Dino Manning and both are the proud of parents of their 8-year-old son, Kai.
