Caravan of Food’s Middle Eastern Restaurant recently joined the collection of elite restaurants to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef. One of the only “farm-to-table” healthy choices on Saipan, Caravan can now exclusively offer beef, which trusted brand has been supplying the island for over 20 years.
Salam Younis, the manager of Caravan, stated, “We wanted to start serving Certified Angus Beef not just because the quality of the brand matches our mission statement but also customers were asking for it.”
Salam’s father Abed E. Younis first opened Caravan in 2012. The elder Younis, a native of Palestine, wanted to share the recipes of his native lands and his passion for hearty, healthy food. After Soudelor, the family decided to transition the bakery into a fast, casual-style restaurant and expanded the menu. The current location has been open since November 2015.
Using Certified Angus Beef has increased business. When asked if he could tell a difference in the taste Salam stated, “Definitely. And our customers do to, the beef sales have really picked up.” Signature beef dishes include, the Kabob plate, which is grounded CAB chuck shoulder and a special blend of spices, grilled with olive oil and served on top of Basmati rice with a side salad. Beef Shawarma, CAB top sirloin traditionally roasted on a slow rotating rotisserie, sliced thin with choice of veggies and pita bread topped with house made tahini. The house specialty is the Maqluba, a layer of seasoned meat, veggies, and rice cooked together in a pot and then flipped over.
Caravan is located on Alaihai Avenue in Garapan next to the Marianas Variety offices. Open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. (PR)
