Maintaining alcohol, drug-free workplace at SHRM meeting
CW-1 cap discussion also on agenda
Cris Sablan, president of the Marianas Drug Testing and Diagnostic Services, will be the guest speaker for the May meeting of the NMI Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.
Sablan will discuss with SHRM members and guests the company’s mission in assisting Employers to make a commitment to provide a safe, quality-oriented and productive work environment. Sablan will be accompanied by Diego “DJ” M. Sablan, vice president and managing director, and Joseph “Joey” A. Arriola, administrative director/consultant.
In addition to the scheduled presentation there will also be a discussion of the recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announcement that the CW-1 cap has been reached and that all extensions received after May 5 will be denied and the workers and their dependents given 10 days following the expiration of their visa period. This is a serious situation. Chamber of Commerce and Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands representatives will be invited. Invitations will also be extended to senior government officials to hear your concerns.
The presentation portion of the May 26 program will be of special interest to all HR professionals and managers, with the speakers explaining how management efforts to develop and maintain an alcohol and drug-free workplace can be assisted by developing a policy that outlines the practices and procedures designed to correct instances of identified alcohol and drug use in the workplace. As part of its presentation, the company will discuss its approach to alcohol and drug testing in the workplace and the methodology used, and the state of the art equipment it utilizes to perform such testing. The company will further discuss the alcohol and drug testing services provided and optional services that are available, such as rehabilitative services for alcohol/drug counseling and related services with the ultimate goal of employee recovery and reinstatement into the workforce.
This lunch meeting will be held at the Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret on Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 11:30am to 2pm.
This presentation is open to the public and will be an invaluable opportunity for employers and HR professionals and staff to better understand the testing options and management assistance available through Marianas Drug Testing and Diagnostic Services. Sablan will provide an opportunity for questions.
