Post-season darts, billiards champs crowned

Division and league champions of the Saipan Electronic Darts Association and the Saipan Billiards Association leagues were separately crowned last week at the end of their postseason tournaments.
The Doro’s RNV Mixed Nuts ruled the C division after squeezing out an 8-7 win over the Jokers Spartans, while the Jokers Chamberos trounced sister team Northern Lights, 8-3, to clinch the Tuesday B title in the Bud Light Cup.
The Mixed Nuts and Spartans were tied at 7-7 after matches in Partners 501, Singles Crazy, Partners 701, Singles Half-It, and Partners Regular with the former’s quintet battling its opponents for every point.
In the end, it was the Mixed Nuts who emerged victorious in the last event, the four-member team match.
The Mixed Nuts defeated Blue Koi Dartcom in their first match then ousted the Jokers Dart-It to clinch a finals berth. The Spartans, on the other hand, downed the Puntan I Langit and Managaha Boyz to earn the right of facing the Mixed Nuts for the title.
In the Tuesday division finals, the Chamberos opened a 5-1 lead en route to the 8-3 win over the Northern Lights.
The Chamberos defeated the Spartans and 21 Shockers on their way to the finals, while the Northern Lights downed the 6JMS G-Side Shooters and VFW Warriors, respectively, to secure a finals berth.
Matches in the Fanihi and Flame Tree divisions of the Bud Light Cup are in the semifinals stage with games to be played on Thursday and the winners playing for the crown on May 26.
The 6JMS Mafia will clash with the Jokers Preba Darts, while the Doro’s Alamo Dragons collide with the 6JMS Ta-Chagi Talo in the Fanihi division. The Flame Tree division will have the Naked Fish Ridin’Darrty-Jonny’s Kyodai and Na’Gupu-Oleai No Fear match ups.
In the SBA Budweiser Cup of the Thursday Open 8-Ball League, Jokers Alamo Car Rental pulled off a 9-7 decision over the Wild Bills Rack ‘N’ Roll in the finals.
Alamo tripped the Homeboyz, 9-4, while the Rack ‘N’ Roll edged Jonny’s Team SCS, 9-8. The Homeboyz eliminated the Wild Wild West, while Car Rental ousted the Wildboyz.
Meanwhile, the SBA-Budweiser Pool League’s awards banquet is set for May 22, starting at 11am, while the SEDA League’s awards ceremony will take place on June 12, also beginning at 11am. Both events will be held at the Charley’s Cabaret of Pacific Islands Club.
