Yonsei Academy had a successful concert last May 6 at Agape Christian School with an audience of around 250 people enjoying a magical night of music.

Instructor Youngmi Han said it was a wonderful concert and the students were able to grow deeply in music.

The concert’s theme was Music History: In between Baroque, Classical, Romance, and Contemporary period performances.

There were church music, piano battle, and Rapha Ensemble as well. The concert was able to raise $695 and it was handed over to Jesses Tudela of the Commonwealth Health Center. Yonsei Academy held a concert reception afterwards.

Since 2009, the music school has been donating funds raised from their concerts, while showcasing the musical talents of the students.

Yonsei Academy’s Rapah Ensemble has also been going to CHC every Sunday afternoon since 2009 to conduct music community service.

Beginning with Yonsei Academy’s SSHS Manta String Ensemble bagging a gold award in 2009 at the Tumon Bay Music Festival, the music school has been taking home good results every year.

Han said, “I am really glad about this concert because we were able to donate. There were a lot of difficulties after the typhoon last year because the pianos became damp and soaked by rain. However, our students’ dreams didn’t disappear and they diligently practiced to bring great results back from TBMF last March 5.”

Kate Ishida (Saipan Community School) and Sunny Park (Saipan International School) received full scores from the adjudicator and pianist Roman Rudnytsky.

“I want to congratulate our students who performed so well and I am very proud of them,” said Han.
