The Department of Fire and Emergency Management Services’ 11th Fire Cycle Cadets, in partnership with the Marianas Visitors Authority, conducted a beach cleanup at the Old Man by the Sea last Saturday May 7.

The cleanup was held in celebration of Tourism Month and the Trash for Cash program.

The 38 fire cadets hiked down through the jungle around 7am and made numerous trips caring out all the debris consisting of plastics, glass, tires, fishing buoys, and much more. The trash was disposed and weighed at the transfer station in Puerto Rico weighing a total of 1,340 lbs.

The DFEMS 11th Fire Cycle Cadets will be fundraising for their graduation ceremony that will be held in the first week of July.

On May 14, 2016 the Fire Cadets will be having a car wash at the Puerto Rico and Susupe Shell gas stations from 8am to 12pm.
