Atkins Kroll, Bridge Capital, and Pacific Islands Club Saipan, are the latest sponsors of the Inaugural Governor’s Tourism Cup Golf Tournament slated for May 14 on the east course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
Atkins Kroll has donated a 2016 Toyota Yaris as a hole-in-one prize at the event, while Bridge Capital and PIC Saipan have donated $3,000 and $2,000, respectively, toward the fundraising event benefiting the Marianas Tourism Education Council (MTEC).
“The private sector understands the importance of our tourism industry, and this tournament is just one way to ensure that future generations learn and understand as well,” said tournament Director James Nelson. “It is vital that businesses, both large and small, support MTEC in its mission of developing tourism related programs for our children.”
The tournament is hosted by the Office of the Governor and the Marianas Visitor Authority (MVA), which was a founding member of MTEC in 2002.
“Thank you to Doug Brennan and Atkins Kroll Saipan for joining as sponsors of the Governor’s Tourism Cup. We’re also grateful to Bridge Capital’s Jody Jordahl, and my boss Hiro Sugie of the Pacific Islands Club Saipan. Tourism is indeed all our business and we’re extremely grateful for the support we’re receiving from the business community,” said MTEC chair Vicky Benavente.
Other hole-in-one prizes include $5,000 sponsored by Pacifica Insurance. The Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa, PIC, and Kanoa Resort have donated several hotel night stays and meals, while Delta Air Lines donated a roundtrip ticket to Japan. More prizes are expected as the tournament nears.
Food and beverage sponsors include the Pacific Trading Co., Herman’s Modern Bakery and MARPAC. The tournament will feature a morning snack, BBQ hotdog stands on the course and free flowing beverages throughout the tournament.
The tournament entry fee is $100 and includes cart and green fees, morning snacks, free flowing on-course refreshments and awards banquet. Tee-time will be at 7am.
Entry forms are available under the MVA Events Calendar at www.mymarianas.com or at the MVA office on Beach Rd. in San Jose, where forms may be submitted and payments may be made. Checks should be made payable to MTEC. Credit card payments will not be accepted. The deadline for submission of entries is at 5pm on May 11.
