Latte Training offers $11K in scholarships

Latte Training Academy, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit focused on the development of the regional workforce, has opened its competition for $11,000 in college scholarships. In order to qualify, applicants must have attended and completed the Hotel and Hospitality Certification courses offered through the CNMI Public School System.

“We are truly committed to the development of the regional workforce. The young men and women who have completed our Hotel and Hospitality Certification program through our partnership with the CNMI Public School System represent the promise that our workforce holds. To encourage these dedicated young men and women to further their career development, the Latte Training Academy, launched its Founders Scholarship Program. This program was developed in honor of our founding members, Arielle Buyum, Jeremy Sasamoto and Julian Aguon and is comprised of $11,000 in college scholarships,” said newly elected board president Juan-Carlos Benitez.

The scholarships are geared toward those students who wish to continue their education in the area of hotel and hospitality, with various elements of focus. The Arielle Buyum Women in Business Scholarship is comprised of $2,000, which is available to young women who will pursue a business degree that they intend on utilizing in the hotel and hospitality industry. The Julian Aguon Humanitarian Scholarship offers $2,000 and is open to those LTA graduates who have performed at least 100 hours of community service, while the Jeremy Sasamoto Scholarship Fund offers, $2,000 with a requirement that applicants complete at least 50 hours of community service. The remaining $5,000 in scholarships fall under The Marianas Hospitality Scholarship Fund. All LTA graduates from 2016 and 2015 and 2016 PSS cohorts are encouraged to apply.

“The Latte Training Academy, as a non-profit, is focused on putting as much of our resources towards fulfilling our mission. Not only are we excited about the scholarship program in the area of hotel and hospitality, but we are truly excited about the variety of programs we have launched in the area of Allied Health Care. As we continue to grow, the board is considering expanding our scholarship funding to promote all the areas of career and development that we offer,” said LTA secretary Tina Palacios.
