TFC@theMovies scores several firsts as it brings together John Lloyd Cruz and Jennilyn Mercado for the first time in “Just The Three Of Us” about an unlikely love story, to cinemas worldwide on the same week of its Philippine release.
On Saipan, Regal Cinema will start showing “Just The Three Of Us” on Friday, May 6.
For the first time, Star Cinema brings three box office royalties in one movie—blockbuster director Cathy Garcia Molina, Cruz, and Mercado in a modern day romantic comedy.
Molina is the director behind the highly successful movie hits such as the iconic One More Chance and sequel A Second Chance that also starred Cruz and perennial love team Bea Alonzo.
“The premise itself got me excited doing the project. What if some girl really approaches you and tells you ‘I’m pregnant. This is your child,’” said Molina.
Cruz, on the other hand, is the 2015 Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation Phenomenal Star awardee because of the record-breaking results of A Second Chance. He has also shared remarkable performances in Honor Thy Father and recently at Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis.
It is Mercado’s first movie with Star Cinema, while this is the nth time Molina and Cruz are collaborating.
Cruz said that he’s been waiting to work with Mercado, even though they are under contract with rival stations. Cruz is under ABS-CBN channel 2 while Mercado is with GMA 7.
“Now, anything is possible. You can now work with other stars even if you’re from rival stations. This is good not only for the artists but for the industry,” said Cruz.
Mercado is also hailed as box office royalty after winning back-to-back acting awards in the 2014 and 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival for English Only Please and Walang Forever. She was also hailed as part of the Breakthrough Office Indie Film in the 2015 Box Office Awards.
Mercado, before accepting the project, said she has been looking forward to work with Molina and Cruz that’s why she quickly grabbed the opportunity once it was presented to her. “It’s a nice working group with direk Cathy and John Lloyd. I’m a fan of the movies that they made.”
Together, they tell the story of Uno (Cruz) and CJ (Mercado) who are complete strangers and opposites thrown into a situation that brings them together, albeit, forcibly to live a married life.
They are both equipped to handle their jobs as airline employees. Uno is an organized pilot who plans his life but comes home to an empty nest. CJ’s dream, meanwhile, is to become a flight stewardess so while still a ground crew she puts her heart to it. What happens next is not entirely part of their plans and dreams.
Together, they face bigger challenges in their own journey to life and love. Will it make them realize that they are thrown together for a reason? Will their love go beyond a one-night stand?
Just The Three of Us will be shown May 4 in the Philippines; May 5 in the Gulf region; May 6 in Papua New Guinea, USA, Canada, and Saipan; May 7 and 8 in Europe; May 8 in Malaysia; May 12 Australia and New Zealand; and May 14 and 15 Singapore.
