Yvette Bennett wins Miracle Maker award
CNMI’s Yvette Bennett was bestowed the Miss Idaho Miracle Maker award for being the contestant with the most money raised during a recently held pageant.
Bennett received the glass trophy and a $500 scholarship award from the Miss America organization for her fundraising efforts for a hospital in Boise that’s part of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, which partnered with the Miss America organization to promote their national platform.
In a statement, Bennett said the Miss Midaho Miracle Maker is an award that reflects what the Miss America organization is about: giving back to the community and making a difference.
“I felt like a winner when I got this award because I know what it meant to a lot of people who supported me and to the Idaho Pageant organizations itself. I hope everyone back home will be proud of my efforts,” added Bennett.
Born in Guam and raised on Saipan, Bennett is believed to be the first from the CNMI to participate in a state level beauty contest in the U.S. mainland, an accomplishment that the CNMI can be proud of, according to her father, Ambrose Bennett.
“Lillian and I are proud parents and we want to extend our sincere thanks for the support everyone has given our daughter,” said Ambrose Bennett of his daughter Yvette, who is a junior at Boise State.
Besides Miss Idaho, the younger Bennett has joined a few other scholarship pageants, namely Miss Boise Scholarship Program, Miss Gate City in Pocatello, and the Miss Tri-Counties but is still determined to take part in more pageants leading to the Miss U.S.A. crown in November.
Yvette Bennett, who aspires to become a professional model someday, expressed her sincere appreciation to all those who supported her bid for the Miss Idaho crown: Gov. Benigno R. Fitial, Judge Juan T. Lizama, Sen. Paul A. Manglona, Sen. Luis P. Crisostimo, Dr. John B. Joyner, Juan Nekai & Charlene Babauta, Jeff Schorr, Deleon Guerrero “Rai” Family, Commerce Secretary Sixto K. Igisomar, Richard and Loraine Seman, Rep. Ramon S. Basa, Dr. Ignacia T. Demapan, Ma Ma Shar, and Teen Talk.
