Torres, San Nicolas hold joint Cabinet meeting on Tinian

TINIAN—Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Victor Hocog together with Tinian Mayor Joey P. San Nicolas held a joint Cabinet meeting at the Tinian Mayor’s Office last Thursday, April 28.
During the joint Cabinet meeting, the governor signed the executive branch’s budget submission to be transmitted to the Senate. The signing was witnessed by the governor’s Cabinet members and their Tinian RDH counterparts along with San Nicolas.
In addition to the signing of the budget submission from the Governor’s Office, Torres’ legal counsel provided an update on the agreement relating to the Divert Airfield discussions with the military. Torres emphasized the importance of sitting with San Nicolas and the Tinian Leadership to ensure that a decision on the Divert Airfield protects the interest of the people of Tinian.
Lastly, Torres announced the progression of the .5 Million Water Tank project contract for Tinian. The contract should be fully executed within a week or two. “I want to extend my sincerest appreciation to Governor Torres and Lt. Governor Hocog as well as Virginia Villagomez from OMB and her staff at CIP, the Secretary of Finance and DPW, and all those involved in facilitating the process of getting the water tank project moving forward,” said San Nicolas.
The governor, lieutenant governor, and mayor all expressed their appreciation for each of their cabinet members’ willingness to work together and support one another to provide better and improved public service to the residents of Saipan and Tinian. The governor’s and mayor’s Cabinet members were given the opportunity to meet and visit with their respective Tinian offices.
