High court holds memorial rites for deputy marshal
Memorial services were held in the CNMI Supreme Court Courtroom on Tuesday, June 26, for Deputy Marshal Manuel Q. Tenorio, who passed away on June 20 of natural causes. He was 34.
The courtroom was filled with members of his family, friends, the justices, judges, and staff of the CNMI Judiciary, Department of Public Safety officers, and U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona. The ceremony involved the presentation of Tenorio’s uniform and badges to his family for use in the funeral and burial on Thursday, June 28.
Acting chief justice Alexandro C. Castro and Associate Judge David A. Wiseman in their remarks praised Tenorio for his professionalism and distinguished service as a law enforcement officer. Chief Marshal Anthony Benavente expressed his own sense of loss of a friend and very valuable co-worker, his “go-to-man in many instances.”
The family was presented with a large memorial plaque signed by all the justices and judges, the director, and deputy director of Courts and the members of the Marshal Service Division, which noted the late deputy marshal’s seven years of exemplary service to the CNMI Judiciary. On a stand at the doorway to the service was a special picture of Tenorio at the work he loved, dressed in full marshal courtroom attire. Around the picture, which was gifted to the family after the service, were the signatures of all the Judiciary staff.
Manny, as he was known by his co-workers and friends, lived in Kannat Tabla and in his spare time enjoyed pool and darts and especially the time spent with children in a loving family environment. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Q. Echaluse, his father, Manuel C. Tenorio, his sister, and brother Vida and Mark Enhaluse and his common-law wife Neischangpi Satur.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2pm on Thursday, June 28, at the Tenorio residence in San Roque and a Christian burial is planned for 3pm at the San Roque Church. (NMI Judiciary)
