Taiguini Books of the University of Guam Press will be releasing its second in a series of four CHamoru language children’s books created in preparation for FESTPAC. The book entitled I Malingu na Påtgon (The Lost Child) will be launched at the University of Guam’s RFK Library on May 7, 2016 from 10am to 12 noon.

I Malingu na Påtgon, written by Rufina Fejeran Mendiola and illustrated by Joseph Flores Sablan, tells the story of a young girl named Bella, who feels like she has been forgotten by her large and very busy family. She finds friendship and love in her garden. Written entirely in CHamoru with captivating illustrations, I Malingu na Påtgon depicts key CHamoru values, particularly the importance of family and working together.

The book launch will feature a special reading of the book by the author, followed by a free digital illustration workshop with the illustrator. The books will be available for sale at $16 per book, and both the author and illustrator will be present to sign the books.
