4 hailed as PSS Support Staff of the Year

Board of Education chair Herman T. Guerrero and Education Commissioner Dr. Rita A. Sablan yesterday led public education leaders in honoring four Public School System employees as 2016 Support Staff of the Year awardees.

Lorenzo Hocog, who has been with the Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Junior Senior High School for eight years, was named 2016 Pupil Transportation Staff of the Year.

Hocog, who flew in from Rota yesterday, was joined by his Pupil Transportation Office family, when he was announced winner of the award at the PSS Lower Base facility.

Dandan Middle School had a double celebration with Catherine K. Borja-Flores being named 2016 Librarian of the Year and Abel R. Valenzuela 2016 Trades and Maintenance Staff of the Year.

Borja-Flores has been with Dandan Middle School for eight years now, while Valenzuela has been with the school for 15 years.

Kagman Elementary School’s Lousitio D. Bautista is the 2016 Administrative Support Staff of the Year. Bautista has been with Kagman Elementary School for 11 years.

Three separate awarding ceremonies were held yesterday—at the PTO office in Lower Base; Dandan Middle School, and Kagman Elementary School.

The entire school district leadership attended. They were led by Guerrero, Sablan, and her leadership team comprised of associate commissioner for Curriculum and Instruction Jackie Quitugua, associate commissioner for Administrative Services Glen Muna, associate commissioner for Research, Accreditation and Evaluation Lynette Villagomez, Federal Programs officer Tim Thornburgh, Finance and Budget director Derek Sasamoto, Human Resources Office director Cindy Deleon Guerrero, and HRO assistant director Lucretia Borja.
