Falcons sluggers make Top 3 of batting race

The Falcons’ Giovanni Mira and A.J. Evangelista barged into the Top 3 of the batting race in the 2016 Saipan Baseball League.
Mira leads 23 others who made it into the batting chart after averaging .556 in three games. He went 5-for-9 at bat and helped the Falcon gain a 2-1 record for a share of the No. 3 spot with defending champions GSM Brewers. The Chalan Kanoa Bears are in first place with their 4-0 mark, while Titanium is in second spot with its 3-0 card as of April 20.
Evangelista is ranked third with his .500 batting average off his 5-for-10 performance at bat. The Brewers’ Nokki Saralu holds the second spot with his batting average of .545 after going 6-for-11. Completing the Top 5 are Titanium’ Patrick Tenorio (.500) and Blue Jays’ Davie Matagolai (.467), who hit 5-for-10 and 7-for-15, respectively.
In other individual statistics, Bears players occupy the 1-2-3 spot in the runs race with Peyton Lizama having eight, Jose Lizama Jr. tallying seven, and A.J. Lizama and Henry Lizama getting six apiece. Jose Lizama Jr. is also ahead in the doubles and RBIs with his three and six. Peter Tomokane, A.J. Lizama, Brian Camacho, Tim Cruz, and Peyton Lizama have four RBIs each.
In the pitching race, Ricky Joe Riungel kept the top spot with his 0.00 ERA, as he has yet to allow a single run in 10 innings pitched with the Falcons. Riungel leads the Aces’ Michael Muna (1.20 ERA), the North Starz’ Jared Camacho (1.29), the Bears’ Jeffrey Lizama (1.80), the Blue Jays’ Keola Camacho (1.80), the Yankees’ Peter Lieto (1.86), the Bars’ Jose Lizama Jr. (2.25), the Brewers’ Lancaster Secharmidal (2.57), and the North Starz’ V.J. King (3.00).
Lieto, Muna, and Jose Lizama Jr. are tied for the most strikeouts, posting 18 apiece.
