The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. has lauded Best Sunshine International, Ltd. for the ongoing clean up and beautification initiative of its Corporate Social Responsibility team at the Commonwealth Health Center.

“We want to thank Best Sunshine (International, Ltd.) for stepping up and coming to us and making the initiative to make the CHCC a part of their community service. The partnership led to a tremendous and great outcome,” Warren Villagomez, the healthcare corporation’s director for Public Health & Hospital Emergency Preparedness Program said.

“We have the manpower but we would not have done it as quickly as Best Sunshine did. We saw major changes in the areas that Best Sunshine worked on,” Villagomez said, citing how BSI’s corporate social responsibility work restored back several publicly frequented areas within and the surrounding premises of CHCC.

From the courtyard were patients and family utilize for resting to parking lots for staff, patients and visitors, the sprawling public facility continue to undergo major facelift.

“It’s great that they do something for our community and something significant to the hospital. We hope to continue our partnership with Best Sunshine with regards to the community service efforts that Best Sunshine’s CSR is offering out there,” Villagomez pointed out.

BSI-CSR team headed by its director Geri Dela Cruz partnered with CHCC in providing cleanup and beautification services which significantly spruced up the hospital’s premises.

CSR director Geri Dela Cruz, when asked what inspired the group to extend this collaborative effort to the island’s primary healthcare facility, said, “When we were assessing the Navy Hill area during our Village Pride Project, we definitely wanted to do improvements at the hospital given it is our only public healthcare facility on the island. However, we knew we couldn’t do it in one week; we decided to make the CHCC improvements a (separate) project.”

“We have been at CHCC for three weeks now and we are about 80 percent complete with our scope of work,” said Dela Cruz.

It was on April 5 when BSI’s CSR team began the massive clean up and facelift and is projected to be completed within a month.

From the paint to manpower, BSI’s CSR team provided free service, a much-needed reprieve to the healthcare corporation need for support.

Martin Pangelinan, Project coordinator of CSR for the CHCC project, comments, “I was really excited with I was tasked to lead the CHCC improvements. I knew that the work we put into this project will benefit everyone in our community.”

Jaclyn Litulumar, another project coordinator, reiterates Best Sunshine CSR team’s commitment by saying, “While doing Village Pride projects, we appreciated the results of the improvements that were done. Simply giving a fresh coat of paint makes the facility look brand new. When we assessed CHCC, I knew that simply painting would improve its curb appeal.”

Dela Cruz adds, “We can definitely build a stronger partnership so we can contribute into improving healthcare in our islands. We may not be healthcare experts; however, we can add value by improving its environment. Our healthcare professionals and our patients can benefit from this improvements.” (PR)
