Small craft advisory in effect until morning
The CNMI Emergency Operations Center has issued a small craft advisory until 6am this morning.
The National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam said a trade-wind surge with east winds of 15 to 20 kt and frequent gusts of up to 25 kt is moving through the Marianas’ coastal waters.
Waves from these winds will combine with east swell to produce combined seas of 8 to 10 feet primarily east of the islands. These winds and seas will continue through Wednesday night then gradually subside starting Thursday morning.
Acting governor Victor B. Hocog is advising the general public and inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, to avoid navigating in these conditions and take extra precautionary measures on entering and leaving harbor and inlets. (PR)
