Cancer survivors, entertainers invited to MMAC
All cancer survivors and patients who are currently undergoing treatment are invited to attend the Annual Survivor Dinner to be held during the 2016 Marianas March Against Cancer. The dinner, held in their honor, is set on May 13, 6pm at the Hopwood Junior High School field.
Geralyn C. Dela Cruz, this year’s MMAC overall committee chair, said this is their way of showing support and respect to all who have been directly affected by cancer. The MMAC committee and the event’s sponsors will join the buffer dinner.
“Each survivor will be treated to a complimentary dinner buffet and will be awarded a unique medallion and T-shirt commemorating their fight against cancer. This is a very important part of the MMAC,” said Dela Cruz.
“Every one of us know someone who has been affected by cancer and the survivor dinner and ceremony is our chance to celebrate their perseverance and strength,” she added.
The MMAC committee is also extending their invitation to all musicians, bands, dancers, and other entertainers to perform live in the CNMI’s largest fundraising event to fight and increase cancer awareness.
“We are calling on all performers who are interested in volunteering their time to show their support in the fight against cancer by performing live at the 2016 MMAC,” said MMAC entertainment chair Carol P. Hosono
“We have limited slots available on a first-come, first-served basis so please contact us as soon as possible to confirm your spot,” added co-chair Patty Kaipat.
Hosono said thousands join the MMAC every year. “This is your chance to show your support in the battle against cancer by performing live for our community.”
MMAC is the Commonwealth Cancer Association’s chief fundraising event where all proceeds go directly to the non-profit organization. The CCA uses the funds to increase cancer awareness and prevention, support services to all cancer patients, and other cancer-related activities.
