Sophie Dela Cruz recently obtained the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Property Management Certification, an essential component to managing housing developments such as Sandy Beach Homes.
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the LIHTC program is the most important resource for creating affordable housing in the United States today.
This is an important step for Sandy Beach Homes and Saipan Comfort Homes, Triple J Saipan’s latest housing development scheduled for completion in February 2017. Dela Cruz will be able to lend her skills to selecting ideal tenants while maintaining strict regulatory compliance so as to ensure occupancy and overall success in the LIHTC housing communities.
“I am excited and proud to continue to develop this important expertise in my field.” Dela Cruz said.
Dela Cruz, who is originally from Pohnpei and lived on Saipan most of her life, joined Triple J in 2014, and took full control of lease management of Sandy Beach Homes, which has been fully occupied since 2012. “Sophie’s done a tremendous job at Sandy Beach Homes and will lead lease-up efforts for our newest housing project, Saipan Comfort Homes, a development that includes 40 two-bedroom units opening in early 2017. We’re quite fortunate to have her on our team and very proud of her certification. She’s become our resident expert on LIHTC property management compliance,” Triple J Saipan Finance and Administration vice president Mike Sablan stated.
Saipan Comfort Homes and Sandy Beach Homes are filling a much needed housing shortage on Saipan. Creating affordable housing to those in need will be essential to the continued growth and development of the CNMI.
