JKPL celebrates National Library Week
The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is celebrating National Library Week this month and it has lined up various activities for the occasion. Celebration started last Saturday, April 9, with a proclamation signing.
JKPL has an ongoing special sale for books, magazines, DVDs, and music CDs. Soft cover and paperback books, and hardbound nonfiction books are .25 cents each; hardbound fiction books are .75 cents per piece; DVDs and CDs are prized at $1 and .50 cents, respectively while all magazines are .10 cents apiece.
The special sale also has a promo of buy five books and get one free or you will get five for free if you purchase 10.
JKPL library assistant and front circulation supervisor Ray Deleon Guerrero Jr. is encouraging everyone to visit them. “So patrons and people of the CNMI stop by your library and take part in our National Library Celebration.”
Deleon Guerrero added that they are also holding an ongoing canned goods and clothes drive. “All donations will be donated to Karidat Social Services to help those in need.”
U.S. Delegate Rep. Gregorio “Kilili” Camacho Sablan (Ind-MP) donated books to JKPL, while Larry Lee and his students had a ukulele presentation.
JKPL also extended its hours yesterday from 10am to 2pm and today, Monday, from 1pm to 6pm. Their regular hours are 10am to 6pm every Tuesdays to Fridays and 9am to 4pm every Saturday. They will also have an amnesty week where all fines will be waived on overdue materials that will be returned in good condition.
On April 14, Thursday, there will be a free library card to all members who lost theirs. It is only a one-day event for free and members must be free from any fines or overdue materials.
