Ghasias Brothers pulled off a come-from-behind 97-96 win against CES Electronics at the resumption of action in the DL Sports Association Invitational Basketball League Season 5 last Saturday at the San Antonio court.
Ghasias recovered from a 10-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter and managed to steal the victory from CES despite having only six players available for the match.
The fourth canto began with CES holding an 80-70 advantage as Derrick Rangamar capped the third period with a long triple. CES went on to lose the lead, as Freddie Pelisamen anchored a pivotal 21-5 scoring spree in the first five minutes and change of the fourth canto to put the depleted Ghasias in front, 91-85. Pelisamen sizzled for 14 points in that rally, while Preston Basa and Marvin Rabauliman combined for the 7 other markers.
CES got one field goal apiece from Justin Andrew and Pete Lizama and a split charity from Rangamar in the fourth-quarter meltdown and failed to regain the lead despite its last minute rally. CES fell behind by as much as 8, 97-69, as Ben Pelisamen added 4 more points and Ben Pelisaman made a layup, down to the last 1:38 of the game.
Ghasias did not score after that, while White Capalad knocked in 6 points and Rangamar chipped in 5 more, including a double clutched triple that went in with just a second left on the clock.
Freddie Pelisamen led Ghasias’ one-point victory as he exploded for 46 points. Basa and Ben Pelisamen contributed 15 each, while Rabauliman also finished in double figures with 14. Rangamar paced CES with his 19 points.
Meanwhile, GMI Market pummeled Kalayaan in the second half en route to a 94-50 win in the first game.
GMI Market was just ahead by 8 at the break, 35-27, when it more than doubled Kalayaan’s output in the third canto, 26-12, to open a 61-39 advantage. GMI Market’s young guns teamed up in the breakaway in the third and delivered the killer blows, too in the fourth for the 44-point winning margin.
