HAGATÑA, Guam—The 2016 University of Guam Film Festival of the Pacific Spring Local Showcase has announced the official lineup for its second spring event set to take place April 29 and 30, 2016 from 10am to 10pm Friday and Saturday at the UOG Lecture Hall and the UOG Fine Arts Theatre.
The success of the festival’s inaugural event last year has extended the spring event to two days. A total of 14 world premieres from the Mariana Islands will be exhibited.
Admission to each screening will be $5. Only cash payments will be accepted at the door.
Scheduled to appear is Hollywood special effects makeup artist and hair stylist, Analyn Cruz.
Cruz, originally from Guam, is scheduled to conduct a movie makeup workshop at the 2016 UOGFF. Cruz has made her mark on the Hollywood scene working at Paramount Studios and on projects such as The Grammys and The Oscars. She has worked for celebrities such as Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds, CBS), Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls, CBS), James Roday and Dule Hill (Psych, USA), Matthew Fox, Kurt Russell, and David Arquette (Bone Tomahawk, RLJ Entertainment), the Wayans Brothers, and more.
The 2016 UOGFF will unveil the world premiere of the highly anticipated Guam documentary, “American Soil, Chamorro Soul.” The film will make its debut as the festival’s centerpiece film.
The documentary, produced and directed by Guam resident and travel blogger Jessica Peterson, has been in production since March 2015 and features interviews with Chamorro cultural practitioners on Guam. The film trailer has already been viewed more than 300,000 times after going viral on Facebook and the film’s completion was made possible by a successful crowd-funding campaign, reaching the goal of $8,000 from donations worldwide.
The film’s crew also includes travel filmmaker Brandon Li (MTV, National Geographic) a variety of talented local filmmakers, and even two Chamorro industry pros working in Hollywood.
Docomo Pacific is the associate producer. For the full press kit, visit http://chamorrofilm.com/presskit/
