Man allegedly punches woman inside car
A woman suffered injuries after a man allegedly repeatedly punched her while she was inside a car with his sister at his house’s compound in Achugao on Saturday morning.
Gregorio Kalen Jr., 33, was arrested for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
The alleged victim suffered a black eye on the right eye and a cut on the right inner lip.
At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $5,000 cash bail.
Assistant public defender Matthew Meyer was appointed as counsel for Kalen. Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds appeared for the government.
Police Detective Peter A. Aldan stated in his report that investigation showed that the victim attended a birthday party on Friday night in Tanapag, where she met her sister-in-law who is also Kalen’s sister.
After the party, the victim and her sister-in-law proceeded to True North Bar in Garapan. After the bar was closed Saturday at 4am, the victim let her sister-in-law drive her car, while she rested in the passenger side.
The victim said she was awakened when she heard Kalen shouting at her sister-in-law outside the driver side door of the car, that was parked at Kalen’s compound.
Kalen was shouting what they were doing there. The victim’s sister-in-law got out from the car and was crying.
The victim moved over to the driver’s seat and looked out the window, asking Kalen why he was mad.
Kalen, however, allegedly punched the victim several times. A male witness grabbed Kalen to prevent him from further punching the victim.
The victim then quickly drove away from the compound and proceeded to her former boyfriend’s house and with his help they proceeded to the Tanapag Mobil gas station, where they reported the incident to the police at 5:22am.
The victim later learned that Kalen was mad at his sister for going out. She said she was shocked that Kalen punched her.
