140 Korean dance group members to arrive for LibDay parade

About 140 members of a dance group from South Korea will be joining the July 4th Liberation Day parade and festivities.
JP Entertainment president Jun Ho Park is coordinating the visit of the Korean dance group.
Park told Saipan Tribune that the 140 members will join the parade and perform at the nightly event during the weeklong Liberation Day celebration.
The group will be arriving on Saipan on July 1 and 2.
Park said he has been inviting and coordinating the visits of Korean musicians and dance performers since 1994 as part of a cultural exchange program for Liberation Day.
It was Park who also invited the 60 members of the Hwasun Elementary School Brass Band from South Korea that performed during a fundraising concert for the benefit of the Saipan Southern High School’s Manta Ray Band on June 18 at the American Memorial Park.
Park said the brass band is a very famous group in South Korea and its music conductor, Seo Kwang Yul, is also very popular in the country.
Aside from the conductor and school principal, 15 parents accompanied the 60 5th grade and 6th grade students.
Last week, brass band members and parents toured the Aging Center and the Department of Public Safety before flying back to Korea.
“They’re having fun. Everybody is happy,” said Park, referring to the students’ tour at the Aging Center and DPS.
