HHS awards $1M for Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting
WASHINGTON, D.C—Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $1,000,000 to the Government of Guam for the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program. The Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program supports pregnant women and families and helps at-risk parents of children from birth to kindergarten entry tap the resources and hone the skills they need to raise children who are physically, socially and emotionally healthy and ready to learn. The funding will be used to support the Guam Department of Public Health and Human Services Project Bisita i Familia, which provides evidence-base home visiting program for at-risk children from birth to 8 years of age and their families and the community of Guam.
“These funds will help Guam Public Health provide services to the families of at-risk children and by funding the Bisita i Familia program. This program provides families with home visiting services tailored to education on children’s health, development and safety. I commend Guam Public Health for their work to assist these children and families who are in need of support, and I look forward to these funds benefitting our community.” (PR)
