Hyundai Accent, United roundtrip tickets up for grabs in NMC Open

There are two special hole-in-one prizes featured in the 10th Annual Northern Marianas College Foundation Open scheduled for next Saturday at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort’s west course. Show time is set for 6am with a 7am shotgun start.
The NMC Foundation would like to invite golfers and anyone interested to come out and play next week for a great cause,” said NMC Foundation president Ivan Quichocho. “We work hard to host a fun memorable event, as well as an exciting competition each year.”
The entrance fee is set at $95 per person; payments can be made at Laolao Bay, Triple J Motors, and at the NMC cashier’s office.
The lucky golfer who manages to sink a hole-in-one on hole No. 3 will win a free roundtrip ticket provided by United Airlines, while anyone who drains an ace in hole No. 17 wins a brand new 2012 Hyundai Accent from Triple J Motors.
The tournament follows a medal play format where the top three place finishers of the Championship, A, B, C, Senior, and Ladies flights.
First place in each division will receive $500 and a United Airlines roundtrip ticket to Guam, Hong Kong, Manila, or Australia.
Runners-up will be awarded $300 and third place finishers will be issued $200 cash.
In addition, $2,500 worth of raffle prizes will also be awarded during the awards banquet held at Lao Lao after conclusion of the event; closest to the pin side bets will also be available.
The event aims to benefit the higher education of the CNMI. Proceeds generated will go toward supporting NMC’s academic programs and services.
The tournament is organized by the NMC Foundation with assistance from the college’s staff, faculty and students. The NMC Foundation is composed of community volunteers committed to evaluating higher education opportunities in the CNMI.
Bae Man carded a gross score of 74 to top 11 other golfers and win last year’s Championship Flight, which was also held at Laolao’s west course,.
Jun Yi Piao, who at the young age of 18, topped the 27-player A Flight with a net 79. He defeated Tars Olopai after three sudden death holes.
Lito Mendoza bested the 35-player B Flight with a net card of 82. Rufin Inos’ 87 took first place in B Flight, while Joe A. Lizama defeated 20 other seniors with a 78 net tally. Jeong Yoon Kim beat out a dozen other ladies with a gross scores of 79.
The event is open to the first 120 participants; registration is ongoing and anyone interested in playing can download a registration form at www.nmcnet.edu or pick up a hard copy at Laolao Bay, the NMC cashier’s office, Marianas Country Club, Saipan Country Club, Dandan Golf Range, King Fisher Golf Links, Triple J Motors, or All Star Sporting Goods.
