Triskelion partners with BSI for Good Friday Mt. Tapuchao trek

This year’s annual Good Friday Mt. Tapuchao trek made a difference for Triskelion Grand Fraternity’s ongoing civic engagement.

On its fourth year volunteer work at the Good Friday event, the fraternity also known as Tau Gamma Phi, partnered with Best Sunshine International, Ltd., the largest private employer in the Commonwealth.

“This is our fourth year to volunteer on Good Friday. This year, there are about 50 members and most of them are employed by Best Sunshine International,” explains council president Vince Sablan, himself a BSI cage supervisor. The fraternity has been volunteering for the annual Good Friday trek for several years now.

“We always look forward to participating in this event because we know that many people will be present and we want to help the community in any way that we can,” he said.

On Saipan, Triskelion Grand Fraternity was established nine years ago.

When asked what his goal is as this year’s council president, he said, “I want to get rid of the fraternity group stereotype. Most people would automatically assume that we do bad things, as soon as they hear the word ‘fraternity.’ I want to show the community that it’s not like that with our group. Our goal is to serve and do good for the people through projects and missions like this.”

By partnering with BSI, Sablan explained that the funds donated to their group allowed them to procure everything the group needed for their volunteer work at the annual trek. They were able to purchase about 1,000 bottles of water, boxes of nutrition bar, and set up a mini soup kitchen that were provided for free to Mt. Tapuchao pilgrims.

“We all know how much of a struggle this hike can be and how tiring it can get so we welcomed anyone who came by our booth to take whatever they need,” Sablan noted. “Without Best Sunshine, our group wouldn’t have a successful Good Friday activity for the community.”

He added, “Thank you for helping to make my first project as council president a success. We’re glad we turned to Best Sunshine for help.”
