The Comets’ Ethan Babauta owned the first half of competition in the Senior League as he topped both the batting and pitching races in the division.
In five games with the Comets in the four-round robin regular season, Babauta went 8-for-14 at bat for an average of .572. He is the lone player in the Top 10 to post a batting average of at least .500, as the Enforcers’ Shakobe Rangamar recorded a second-best .467 off a 7-for-15 performance at the plate. The Red Sox’ Christian Lizama and Nate Anson are ranked third and fourth with their .400 (4-for-10) and .364 (4-for-11), while the Falcons’ Jun Atalig rounded out the Top 5 after going 5-for-14 and registering a batting average of .357.
The Falcons’ Ace Evangelista and the Red Sox’s Tindin Leon Guerrero are tied for sixth place (.333/4-for-12) and were followed by the Red Sox’s Delin Reusora (.273/3-for-11), and the Enforcers’ Nate Nogis (.267/40for-15) and Virgil Secharmidal (.231/3-for-13). The batting leaders are based on 10 or more at bats.
In the pitching race, Babauta pitched 13 innings and gave up no unearned runs for a perfect 0.00 ERA. He shares the top spot with Brandon Pua, Leon Guerrero, and Rangamar. Pua did not allow any run in eight innings pitch, while Rangamar and Leon Guerrero did the same in seven innings pitch. Kakuni Kainoa completes the field with his 0.58 ERA after giving up one run in 12 innings.
In the other categories, Atalig leads in strikeouts with 19, while Babauta and Reusora have 12 apiece. Secharmidal is on top of the runs chart with nine, followed by Rangamar and Anson, who have earned five and four so far, respectively. Anson, Rangamar, and Babauta are in a deadlock for most RBIs with five apiece, while the former and Atalig are the only two players to knock in a homer early in the season.
