Department of Community and Cultural Affairs-Commonwealth Council for Culture and Arts executive director Angel Songao Hocog executed a memorandum of understanding with KKMP Charitable Foundation and KKMP Radio to raise funds and implement the Flame Tree Arts Festival for 2016. The Flame Tree Arts Festival is slated for April 14-17, 2016 at Civic Center in Susupe.

Having KKMP facilitate the Flame Tree Arts festival will allow CCCA to focus its efforts in the preparation for the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts (FESTPAC) to be held in Guam May 22- June 2, 2016.

KKMP has the essential capabilities to host the arts program such as staging equipment, sound, and lighting systems. Hocog has assigned Parker Yobei as the chairman and executive director designate to the festival preparations.

KKMP co-hosted the Christmas in the Marianas program along with the Marianas Visitors Authority and Kinpachi Restaurant last Christmas season and was a raging success with more activities and participants than previous years. “We hope this sensational experience will be brought to the Flame Tree Arts Festival in celebration of its 35th year anniversary,” said Hocog.

Beginning in his acting capacity as secretary for DCCA, Robert Hunter said, “This public-private partnership allows CCCA to thoroughly focus on preparations with our 250 performers and artists who will be representing the Northern Mariana Islands at FesPac. I look forward to both successes at FestPac and at our 35th Flame Tree Arts Festival.”

“KKMP will be responsible for all facets of the 35th Flame Tree Arts Festival, and performers, supporters, vendors, and sponsors should work with KKMP to ensure the 35th Flame Tree Arts Festival will be a festival to be remembered,” said Hocog.

The memorandum of understanding with KKMP, which is good for two years, will be at no cost to CCCA. The organizers will remit 20 percent of net revenues and financial report to CCCA.
