MPU, Tan Holdings shut down U17 foes

MP United and Tan Holdings cruised to victories after blanking their respective opponents in the U17 division games in the 2016 NMIFA Youth Spring League last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.

MP United played in the curtain-raiser in the division and crushed Kanoa, 8-0, while Tan Holdings outclassed Paire in the second match, 2-0.

Hyun Jun Chung starred in MP United’s rout of Kanoa as he scored a hat-trick. Edwin Kim, James Kim, Sunjoon Tenorio, Kevin Park, and Michael Lee added one goal apiece.

In the Tan Holdings-Paire tiff, Thaiphi Austria and Alan Hinson knocked in one goal each for the former.

With their wins, Tan Holdings improved to a 2-0-2 win-draw-loss record for third place, while MP United got a 3-0-1 mark, the similar slate idle Matansa holds. However, Matansa has more goals than MP United, 14-12, to win the tiebreak for first place. Paire is at the bottom of the team standings with its 1-0-3 card.

In other results last weekend, Matansa, Kanoa, and Paire prevailed in the girls U15 matches over at the San Antonio Middle School Field.

Matansa defeated MP United, 5-1, behind the three goals of Jannah Casarino. Sunny Woo and Lyka Sally chipped in one goal each for Matansa, while Maaya Sato tallied the lone goal for MP United.

In the second game, Kanoa dislodged Shirley’s from the top spot after scoring a 4-2 upset. Kanoa, which now has a 4-0-1 mark against Shirley’s 3-0-1, got three goals from Britanny Wally and one from Paulyn Grace Joyce. Mia Carreon posted the two goals for Shirley’s.

In the third game, Guinevere Borja suited up for Paire for the first time and powered her team to a 2-1 victory

Borja registered the two goals for Paire to hand her squad its first win this season. Nicole Lumbad earned the lone goal for Tan Holdings.

In the boys U14 division, MP United, Paire, and Tan Holdings made it to the winners list.

Tan Holdings whipped Shirley’s, 9-0, behind the hat-tricks of Mark Esalan and Taka Borja. John Michael Rojas and Austria contributed one goal apiece for Tan Holdings, which got an own goal off Shirley’s miscue.

Paire topped Matansa, 4-3, thanks to the two goals apiece of Kaden Church and Raffy Lee. Justin Charles Achas, Razeff Altamirano, and Iverson Santos hit one goal each for Matansa.

MP United downed Kanoa, 3-1, with Ye Seong Cho scoring all three goals for the winning squad. Jhoey Noble recorded the only goal for Kanoa.

In the U12 division, MP United and Kanoa beat their respective foes.

MP United pounded Tan Holdings, 14-4, while Kanoa outclassed Paire, 5-3.
