Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman has imposed a five-year prison term without possibility of parole on Sheryl Lynn Muna Worswick, a 39-year-old woman who stabbed a female cashier with a knife during an attempted robbery at a store in San Antonio.

At a sentencing hearing on Wednesday afternoon, Worswick pleaded guilty to attempted robbery.

Wiseman reluctantly accepted the plea agreement.

Wiseman sentenced the defendant to 10 years in prison, all suspended except for five years.

Worswick was given credit for time served.

After completing the prison term, the defendant will be placed on five years of supervised probation.

Worswick was ordered to pay $1,745.12 and $339.89 in restitutions to the cashier and Islander Mini Mart, respectively.

The defendant was ordered to perform 500 hours of community work service and complete any counseling recommended by the Community Guidance Center. During the probationary period, she is not allowed to consume any alcoholic beverages.

The Office of the Attorney General charged Worswick with attempted robbery, aggravated assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

As part of the plea deal, assistant attorney general Barbara Cepeda moved to dismiss the remaining charges. Wiseman granted the motion.

Assistant public defender Michael Sato appeared as counsel for Worswick.

According to the factual basis of the plea deal, on Jan. 17, 2016 on Saipan, Worswick, while armed with a knife, entered Islander Mini Mart with the intent to force the cashier to give her money, and cutting the cashier on her hand requiring 15 stitches.

The 52-year-old cashier told police that while she was behind the cashier counter conducting a transaction with a customer shortly before noon, a woman later identified through surveillance camera as Worswick, came in and asked her what time it was.

About five minutes later, Worswick came back armed with a knife and locked the front door.

A struggle later ensued, causing injuries to the cashier. The defendant ran away.
