First Hawaiian Bank donates to MTEC

The Marianas Tourism Education Council commenced its annual presentations to elementary schools this week armed with additional giveaways donated by First Hawaiian Bank.
The donation of school supplies was made by Vickie N. Izuka, FHB assistant vice president and Business Banking officer, and Victoria Concepcion, FHB assistant vice president and branch manager, to the MTEC Board of Directors on March 9, 2016, at the FHB Oleai Branch.
The donation of 300 pencils, erasers, and rulers will be distributed by MTEC through its student outreach and other activities.
“On behalf of the MTEC Board of Directors, we are grateful to the First Hawaiian Bank for donating these school supplies to our Education Outreach Program,” said MTEC chair Vicky Benavente. “Tourism is everybody’s business, and FHB has stepped up to help spread the word to the youth in our community.”
This week MTEC and Marianas Visitors Authority kicked off their annual round of presentations to elementary schools at San Vicente Elementary (March 7), Garapan Elementary (March 9), and Koblerville Elementary, and Kagman Elementary (March 10).
The presentation included an overview of the how the tourism industry helps the community, why visitors choose to visit the Northern Marianas, the role of the MVA, and what students can do to support tourism. Project manager Kodep Ogumoro-Uludong of Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance at Garapan Elementary School also joined the presentation at Garapan Elementary School. (PR)
