Easy wins for Mobil/JP World, Kauila

Mobil/JP World and Kauila Enterprises sustained a good start to ease past their respective foes in the DL Corp Invitational Basketball League Season 5 last Thursday at the San Antonio court.
In the first game, Mobil/JP World dominated Kalayaan, 93-78, while Kauila topped Saipan Fresh in the second match, 90-69.
Kauila built an early double-digit lead, 22-11, and kept going in the remaining three quarters en route to the 21-point winning margin.
A balance scoring in the opening period allowed Kauila to take control of the match and double up Saipan Fresh. Six different players hit the board for Kauila in the first 10 minutes of play with four of them making at least two field goals apiece. Saipan Fresh, on the other hand, had only Oliver Itibus drilling more than one field goal for the team in the first canto.
Saipan Fresh never recovered from thereon, as Kauila much deeper bench provided a steady source of production for the winning squad.
Four Kauila players ended up scoring in twin digits, while four others combined for 29 points. Ken Viray paced Kauila with is 16 points, while Elmer Esdrelon chipped in 15, and Jake Santos and Perry Inos tallied 12 and 11, respectively.
In the first game, Mobil/JP World also recorded 20-plus points in the first quarter to set up the easy win. Mobil/JP World distributed the wealth, too in the opening frame to establish a 22-13 lead, which ballooned to 25 at the break, 54-29, as the team continued to get points from every player it fielded against Kalayaan.
Kalayaan could not keep up with Mobil/JP World’s even offense, as the former relied heavily on Sonny Lerio, who led all scorers with his 32 markers. Kalayaan lost its season debut, while Mobil /JP World got its second win in three games.
