The CNMI Small Business Development Center, through the Department of Commerce and in partnership with the Commonwealth Development Authority, will be offering free business workshops “How to Start A Business” by Orrin Pharmin from 10am to 12pm and “Customer Service” by Eileen A. Babauta from 1:30pm to 2:30pm on Wednesday, March 9, at the Northern Marianas College-Saipan (Room D1).

“How to Start A Business” workshop will help individuals learn everything they will need to get started, including an introduction to business plans and the importance of preparing one; exploring the legal forms of business (sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, limited liability partnership/company) and which one is right for your business needs; local or federal licensing requirements for the business. Participants will be able to obtain vital information and resources to start and own a business. This training will take the mystery out of starting a business and help participants better evaluate their business idea.

The “Customer Service” workshop will provide the knowledge needed for exceptional customer service. Good customer service is vital for all businesses, large or small. It can have a direct impact on customer loyalty and where potential customers choose to spend their money. Simply put, the higher quality customer service you provide, the higher level of customer satisfaction you will enjoy, and that will translate into repeat business and more revenue.

Deadline to pre-register is one business day before workshop at 12pm. Seating is limited so advanced registration is required (this is on a first come, first serve basis). Walk-ins are allowed and granted on space availability. Workshop must meet minimum enrollment in order to run. If the workshop fails to meet such enrollment, CNMI SBDC reserves the right to reschedule or cancel such workshops.

The CNMI Small Business Development Center is a member of the Pacific Islands Small Business Development Center Network (PISBDCN). Its mission is to support the growth and economic development of the U.S. affiliated islands in the western pacific by providing free one-to-one, confidential business counseling and high quality training to existing small businesses and startups.

For more information about registering for these workshops, contact Lori Pangelinan at lori@pacificsbdc.com or the Department of Commerce at (670) 664-3018/3000.
