Police arrested in Garapan on Tuesday night for obstructing justice the wife of a man who was recently arrested for sexually assaulting a woman.
Xia Liu Rios, 38, was served with an arrest warrant for obstructing justice, interference with law enforcement officer or witness, assault, and disturbing the peace.
Rios was taken to the Superior Court yesterday for her initial appearance.
Detective Melissa H. Bauleong stated in her report that police started conducting an investigation on Sunday after a mother and her daughter filed a complaint at the Department of Public Safety Central Headquarters.
Bauleong said the mother alleged that Rios called her on the phone regarding the case of her husband, Anthony Rios.
Mrs. Rios apparently wanted the mother to tell her daughter to tell the police that what happened to her and Mr. Rios was a misunderstanding.
Mrs. Rios allegedly threatened that if the daughter doesn’t want to do her request, she would report her (daughter) to immigration about her status.
The defendant also allegedly threatened that she would get someone from China to harm the daughter.
Mrs. Rios later allegedly begged the daughter to tell the police that everything was a misunderstanding and to write a letter to the court that the incident between her and Mr. Rios never happened.
